I’ll let you in on a little secret – even after all this time, I still experience stage fright at wedding ceremonies. Yep, it happens to me too! You'd think that being the one up there, celebrating love and bringing people together, I'd be immune to those nerves. But no, they sneak in every now and then.
What helps me calm those butterflies in my stomach is when I genuinely connect with the couple. When I know their love story inside out and feel like I’m part of their journey, writing the ceremony feels like second nature. I’m confident they’ll love what I've created, and that connection makes everything flow. It’s like speaking from the heart to friends rather than reading to strangers, which always helps settle the nerves.
The other thing that makes all the difference is the crowd. An engaged, friendly, and excited group of guests can work magic! Before the ceremony, I love to mingle and chat with people – it helps me gauge the vibe and feel more grounded. Seeing those smiling faces, full of love and excitement for the couple, instantly puts me at ease. It’s like sharing a special moment with a room full of supportive friends.
And finally, couples who go with the flow are a dream! It's totally okay if you're feeling a bit nervous or anxious—that's completely normal on such a big day. I am talking about when couples start getting really worked up over the tiny details, like the exact placement of chairs, or the timing of their music. That kind of anxious energy can add to the pressure, making everything feel a bit more intense. When couples are able to let go of the small stuff and focus on enjoying the moment, their relaxed vibe makes all the difference and helps me feel at ease, too.
So, while stage fright might still creep in occasionally, the right connections, the vibe from the crowd, and that easygoing energy always make it worth it. Every time.
