Sheree and Brendon might just have one of my all time favourite stories.
I tell everyone who will listen about it!

It started with a house. Sheree owned a home in Hollywood Close - lovingly referred to as “Hollywood”. When she put it up for sale, the neighbour across the road kept a close eye on who came through. She reported back that a good-looking young guy had been checking it out. That good-looking young guy was Brendon, and he ended up buying the house. Sheree only caught a brief glimpse of him at the final inspection while she was busy moving out, and at the time, she didn’t think much of it.
What Brendon didn’t realise was that when he bought Hollywood, he was getting more than bricks and mortar. Less than 18 months later, Sheree came with it. They had mutual friends through the neighbours, and after a messy night in February 2013, after being kicked out of the Bradford, Brendon wandered home and found the neighbours chatting to Sheree on the phone from their verandah. A few cheeky, slightly inappropriate drunken comments were made, and the next morning, Brendon sent Sheree a message on Facebook apologising. They haven’t stopped messaging since.

How amazing is it that she ended up moving back into the house she sold 🤣🥰

Bek and Ben's engagement story made me giggle.
Ben had plans for a fancy dinner proposal, but when he came home from work, Bek was in her pyjamas, messy bun, and halfway through a box of Shapes. Fancy dinner was clearly off the table. So, instead, Ben told her to close her eyes, opened the safe in their tiny unit (which she obviously heard), and came back with the ring. After a long, stunned silence, where, in true Aussie fashion, Ben had to ask “So yeah? Nah? Yeah?” Bek finally said yes. For her, it couldn’t have been more perfect - just the two of them, relaxed, and completely themselves.

Darcy-Rose and Jayden did it their way. A secret backyard elopement, no fuss, no big production, just the two of them with parents standing close as witnesses. It was perfect, and a day I know I'll never forget.

Jayden's parents have been happily married for thirty years. So I took the opportunity to ask his mum what she’s learnt along the way, and her advice was simple. "Just wake up every day, and try to think of one thing that you can do to make your partners life better. It doesn’t have to be a huge gesture, and it shouldn’t have strings attached or be conditional…just something that shows them that you see them and that you care…"
When you look at Darcy and Jay, you can see that this is something they’ve been doing from the very beginning ❤️

Don’t forget to look around during your ceremony. One of the best memories from Steph and Dan’s day was seeing them pause for just a moment to take in everyone around them. There were smiles all around, including grandma, who was absolutely delighted by the bubble machine!

It didn't take long for Brooke to realise why she had always felt so drawn to Tiffany. It wasn’t just friendship or admiration. The pull she had always felt was because Tiffany was her soulmate 🥹❤️

But celebrant friends, if you're in the market for a new microphone, I cannot recommend this one highly enough.

When I started out, I was recommended the Sennheiser XSW-D setup, and yeah, when it's good, it's good. It's served me well over the last 4 years. Until it doesn't.
I was finding that something as simple as a few stocky groomsmen between me and the receiver would affect the quality. Smaller spaces (think indoor venues, with the front row seats very close to the arbour) made it tricky to position my speaker with a clear line of site.
After a few crackly incidents, I invested in a cord for "just in case" - but hated how it looked in photos.

So this year, I decided to invest in the EWD-835 wireless - and it's been an absolute game changer! Super simple to use - plug the receiver (is that what it's called?)😅 into your speaker (I use the Bose S1), turn on, and it's good to go!
It uses UHF, so it's more stable over distance and around people, and the sound quality is phenomenal - my impromptu video really doesn't do it justice 😅

Katie and David said I do at Yabbaloumba Retreat in a gorgeous ceremony written and delivered by their good mate Ben. In the lead up, he and I worked closely together so he felt completely at ease. We chatted through his ideas, I offered a bit of writing support whenever he wanted it, and gave him some tips on presenting so he would feel confident. We even did a little rehearsal over coffee to make sure everything flowed just right.

When the moment came to make it official, Ben handed things over to me for the legal side of things.

Connection and building relationships is the heart of what I do, but even I couldn’t have told their story the way Ben did. He captured their world perfectly, because he’s been part of it.

Just got back from a weekend at Rainbow Beach with the fam, and it brought back all the memories from Clarissa and David’s wedding. That place will always have a special spot in my heart, not just because it’s beautiful, but because it gave me one of my all-time favourite wedding stories.

I had to compete with the tides during their beach ceremony - the water was up to our ankles by the end, and I was feeling a bit stressed my husband wouldn't be able to get down in the 4WD in time to rescue me and my equipment 🤣

That was three years ago, but moments like that remind me why I love what I do. It’s not about perfection - its about connection and stories I will remember telling forever.

Rainbow Beach, thanks for the memories - old and new!

We’ve got family from the UK staying with us at the moment, and they’ve been fascinated by all the traditions and little differences in Australian weddings. We ended up chatting about wedding dresses, and I couldn’t help but show them some of the most memorable ones - including the incredible dress Jasmine made herself.

Jasmine and Christian were my 11th wedding, and I still think about them often. Their day felt like a real turning point for me - it was when I started to feel more confident and really found my rhythm as a celebrant.

It was also my first time working with @hawthornecreativemedia , and we clicked straight away since we were both just starting out in the industry. What began as some newcomers finding their feet turned into a bit of a dream team💞

Nick’s proposal to Tara was nothing short of magic. He organised a customised escape room that ended with the final “clue” being a plaque engraved with her name and the words Will you marry me?
Tara had been too engrossed in the challenge to suspect anything, and was completely surprised 🥹

When it was time to propose, Jack bought the ring that very day (just in case he lost it), had a couple of wines for courage, arranged dinner at their favourite Italian restaurant, and then a private moment on one knee where he cried more than Laura.

Laura did have her suspicions… after all, Jack actually made the booking (which was super unlike him), asked what she was wearing, and came home from a “gym session” with a fresh haircut and the cheekiest grin.

Even with the clues, it was the best kind of surprise. Jack hadn’t told a soul about his plans, so they got to soak up that sweet little post-proposal bubble before sharing the news. 🥂💍

Who needs traditional rings when you can have 3D-printed whistle rings straight out of The Simpsons?

Sam totally surprised Marvin with these at their wedding, with a nod to their favourite show and countless inside jokes shared over the years.
A little bit of Springfield magic had everyone laughing, especially because Marvin was so confused when their beautiful beagle Daphne delivered them.

One reason you shouldn't book me as your celebrant:

🙅🏻‍♀️ You have a beautiful dog and you DO NOT want to include them in your day.

I might not be the celebrant for you, because if you tell me about them, or show me photos, I'm probably going to beg you to bring them along 🥹

Daphne was the goodest girl at Sam and Marvin's wedding!

The beautiful team at @happyhoundspetservices_ looked after her so well - she was spoilt, loved and lots of photos taken to document her big day out!

In all seriousness though - if your dog isn't as well-behaved as Daphne, or they are unable to attend for other reasons, maybe we can plan our paperwork meetings to be somewhere dog friendly? Please? 🤣

I still remember my very first day working with Caitlin - she was the first person I met when I walked into my new store, and my immediate thoughts were: “wow, those brows and lashes are next-level” and “this girl cannot stop talking about her boyfriend” 🤣

Fast forward ten years, and I had the absolute privilege of marrying her to that very same boy she couldn’t stop raving about 🥹

Back in our retail days, Caitlin was my biggest support (to the point that I knew I had to hire her again when I opened a new store). So, being able to return the favour by helping her marry her best friend meant the world to me.

The top two that I strongly believe every celebrant needs to have:

💻 Studio Ninja: my CRM. This handles all bookings, automates some of my workflow, including invoicing, keeps everything organised, and gives couples their own portal for all the important stuff.

🚗 Drivers Note – tracks every trip automatically and whips up all the forms I need for tax time. So easy to use (and free!).

Other apps I use every wedding:

🎶 Spotify - how I keep ceremony music running smoothly and stress-free. I always make sure to download all music beforehand in case of any reception issues at the venue.

📖 Kindle – every ceremony lives here. I read from my actual kindle on the day, and with the app on my phone I can sneak in a little practice anytime I have the chance.

🗣️ Reading Mode – sometimes I use it to read the ceremony back to me so I can hear how it flows out loud. It's a great way to proofread and make sure I haven't made any mistakes

Celebrant friends, what are your go-to apps?

I was lucky enough to celebrate Sharni and Andrew not once, but twice. The first time was an intimate, no-fuss legal ceremony at their coffee table - just us, and their two witnesses sharing a moment before their beautiful baby boy arrived.

The second time was everything they deserved: a gorgeous celebration at Sharla Park, surrounded by their loved ones, with all the joy, laughter, and love you could imagine.

Bec and Ollie walked into their ceremony together, and it was the most incredible moment!
Hand and in hand, hearts racing, guests cheering, and the love of their guests wrapping around them like a warm hug.

Kate and Luke ❤️

In my role as a celebrant, I believe it’s all about balance. Kate and Luke's ceremony was full of laughter, the light moments, the little in-jokes (even No Scrubs lyrics 🤣) they’re such a big part of who they are, and their story.

But we also made space for the quieter stuff too - the honest, heartfelt moments that remind them why they’re standing there.

It’s my job to find that sweet spot that reflects you and your personalities perfectly, while still making sure the importance of the ceremony is felt. Because beyond the laughs, it’s also about honouring everything you’ve built together, and stepping into the next chapter.

Who knew a buried sausage could work such magic. The night before Crystal and Ashley's wedding, the forecast for their big day was looking pretty bleak.

So, following an old wives tale, Crystal pulled out a packet of sausages to bury. Her bridesmaids have got to be some of the best people that I've ever met - and the epitome of supportive. Not a single eyebrow raised, they just rolled with it and got to work digging.

Miraculously, the skies cleared and the day turned out perfect for Crystal and Ashley’s celebration. Sausage sorcery at its finest 👌🏻🤣

When it rains on your wedding day, it’s totally valid to feel all the feelings. You’ve dreamt of this day, planning every detail for months, possibly years.

Karli was determined to have her outdoor ceremony, rain or shine. Until it started raining sideways, and there was no possible way to move forward without every single person getting completely soaked.

In the end, we moved things inside, her horse and carriage entrance still went ahead (thanks to the brilliant team at Sandstone Point Hotel's quick thinking!), and the atmosphere was filled with warmth, love, and some of the most supportive humans I’ve ever seen.
I have no doubt that their family and friends would've stood outside in the pouring rain if that’s what they wanted.

Sometimes, the day looks a little different than planned. But just remember the reason you are there, and try to make the best of the things you can't control.

I love elopements.
Real, actual elopements.
Not the “we invited 40 of our closest friends but are saying it's eloping" kind 🥴😅 - I’m talking just the two of you, your witnesses, me, and your photographer.

My favourites always seem to be little Airbnb elopements in Maleny - like this one (which is still a secret!). 🤫

I know from experience - eloping can bring the worry of “are we missing out?” without the big wedding fuss.

But that’s where I come in. When I arrive, my focus is bringing the calm-but-excited energy, and being your bestie for the day.

Whether you need a hype girl, a makeshift florist, or just someone to reassure you that your family will get over it - I’ve got you. I love that there's no strict timeline, we relax, chat, and whenever you're ready, get married!

This day is yours, and I’m here to make sure it feels every bit as special as it deserves to.

It was at one of their early sleepovers when Brooke knew Greg was something special. He’d set up a whole room just for Brooke's daughter Ady. He went all out - beautiful sheets, pillows, toys - the works. He made space for her, literally and emotionally, without even being asked. The next morning, Brooke woke up to an empty house… Greg had taken Ady out to get ingredients to make her breakfast in bed (with a quick stop to wave at some kangaroos). That moment, that simple act of care, of choosing them, was when Brooke knew she was in love.

People often tell me, “I couldn’t be a celebrant - I’d cry at every wedding!” And to be fair, I’ve had a few close calls at some incredibly emotional ceremonies…
But Breanna and Josh? We were all almost crying from laughter instead.

I managed to sneak in a few perfectly timed quotes from their fav show, The Office. Although it did have some guests looking very confused, Breanna and Josh instantly caught on and cracked up 🤣

My cheeks were sore from laughing and smiling so much, and I left the ceremony on such a high.

This is what happens when you choose a celebrant you connect with - someone who gets your vibe, your humour, and feels like a friend. It makes the whole thing feel so natural (and way more fun!)

This was such a special day - I think Brooke and I had been talking about it since we first met at work back in 2017 🤣

After 10 years, Brooke and Greg are starting a new chapter - one that doesn’t change who they are, but celebrates it. Marriage means choosing each other, always.

I'll forever be grateful I got to play a small part in it!

Why am I like this?

Wedding vendors - who else does this every weekend? 🙋🏻‍♀️

Take me back to Jemima and Kyle's wedding at @sandstonepointweddings with @shellbellsphotography 😍

If someone had told Kyle and Jemima back in 2019 that they’d be standing in front of their closest friends and family, ready to promise forever, they probably would’ve had a good laugh.

From the start, they were an unlikely match - Jemima, the confident planner with clear goals and a no-nonsense attitude, and Kyle, the carefree joker who never worried about what others thought. His laid-back approach to life was a mystery to Jemima, who had spent her whole life setting goals, mapping out strategies, and finding joy in planning every step of the way.

Somehow,, their differences fit together perfectly. Over time, Kyle’s easygoing nature helped Jemima slow down and enjoy the moment, while her focus and drive gave their relationship direction.

By the time they said "I do!", it wasn’t just a promise of forever, it was a celebration of how far they’d come, and how beautifully they’d grown, together.

3. The Couple who told me the main reason they booked me was because I was plus size at the time. Super great to hear as I was adjusting to postpartum life 😅

2. The Couple who tried to get me to take home their VERY sick (Gastro! 🤢) daughters, so they could party and enjoy their reception without having to worry about them.

1. The Groom who said "that dress is a bit much isn't it?!" to his BEAUTIFUL bride when he first saw her down the aisle. I'll never forget how crushed she looked, it completely broke her (and my!) heart 😔🥺💔

I'm so lucky that after 149 weddings, those are the only experiences that left me internally shrieking "the audacity!" 😅

One of the my favourite things at a wedding has got to be seeing my past couples again—like Jacob & Charlotte, and Zoe & Jeremy, who I got to catch up with at Breanna & Josh’s wedding today!
It was so good to see you all… although I’m pretty devastated I didn’t get to meet both of your beautiful baby boys! Next time!?

As for Breanna & Josh—they got the ultimate “try before you buy” experience, seeing me in action at both of those weddings before booking me for their own. Safe to say, they knew exactly what they were getting… and still locked me in!

Kind Words

I honestly don’t even know where to begin with Nikita, words don’t feel like enough to describe just how incredible she was. From the very start, she was endlessly supportive, thoughtful, and genuinely invested in us and our story. She went above and beyond every step of the way, from the planning to the rehearsal, right through to the ceremony itself.

On the day, she brought such a calming, grounded presence. She made us feel completely comfortable and at ease, like everything was exactly where it needed to be. She truly advocated for us, our values, our vibe, our connection and held space for all of it in the most authentic, beautiful way.

So many of our guests and family came up to us afterwards and said how amazing she was! Guest even told us they wished they’d had her marry them! That’s the kind of impact she had. We feel so lucky to have had her as our celebrant, and honestly, I couldn’t have chosen anyone more perfect to marry us.

Where do I begin…

I watched Nikita marry 2 sets of our family in 2023 and was in awe at how perfectly different both ceremonies were. I asked if we could continue the newly created family tradition and snag her for our wedding in 2025.

Nikita is such a wholesome person, she is bright, witty and very compassionate. She was informative and helpful throughout the entire process. Nikita’s communication skills are exceptional and the attention to detail is perfection.

Our ceremony was personalised to match our humour. All our suggestions were included and our guests were in laughing fits (which is exactly what we wanted). Nikita contacted me regularly leading up to the day, messaging me her suggestions, making sure everything was going smoothly and offering a helping hand.

I could not recommend Nikita (or Cheetah as my Son calls her) highly enough. She is an all rounder, super star Celebrant.

We had so much fun working with Nikita to develop our wedding ceremony. She is so friendly and professional, and prompt to answer questions. She was great at calming our nerves in the lead up to the wedding and on the day. We were never worried about a thing!
